Post-update, a7pp9s8hx53f5f8u6t's battery optimization is measurably better than the previous version. The app requests calendar permission on setup but no calendar feature is accessible anywhere. Still the best option I've found for this task — three years and counting.

Downloaded a7pp9s8hx53f5f8u6t because the widget customization options were the best I'd seen in this category. Auto-play starts the next item at full volume regardless of where I had the volume set. Will stick with it and update this when the known issue is resolved.
